We are glad to share with our audience that Professor Yu Peiwen, Vice Dean of the School of Economics and Business Administration successfully visited the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies last week, on October 4th, to discuss academic and scientific cooperation with Sant’Anna Professors. 

The visit of Professor Yu has been the first of a Professor from Chongqing University and SEBA to Sant’Anna since the outbreak of the pandemic. We are confident that our cooperation can benefit from his visit and that our  almost two decades long successful story between Pisa and Chongqing can create many new pages in our Sino-Italian academic and cultural book. 

VISIT TO THE CONFUCIUS INSTITUTE OFFICES

Professor Yu was welcomed in the morning by Professor Huang, co-director of the Confucius Institute of Pisa, Miss Ida Fiore, Programme Manager of the Confucius Institute and Marco Bonaglia, PhD candidate at SEBA, Chongqing University.

They had the chance to talk about Chongqing-Pisa cultural and academic cooperation opportunities, and Professor Huang introduced Prof Yu to the activities of Confucius, in front of coffee and pastries. He was given the draft copy of the book “Chongqing city of wonders” as a gift. 

VISIT TO THE INSTITUTE OF MECHANICAL INTELLIGENCE

Three pictures taken at the Institute of Mechanical Intelligence.  In the first picture Prof.Yu was shown a demonstration of the Argo project.  In the second, he could learn about how exoskeleton research progresses and in the last one he was introduced to medical robots developed by Prof. Frisoli researchers. 

After the first meeting, Prof Yu was welcomed by Professor Antonio Frisoli at the Mechanical intelligence Institute, where he could know more about the successful startup “Next Generation Robotics” and other research activities by Professor Frisoli’s team.

In particular, Professor Frisoli and Mister Massimiliano Gabardi described the activities of “Argo”, an innovative robotic system capable of inspecting the underbody parts of trains without requiring the aid of a special track. 

ITALIAN FOOD FOR LUNCH 

Its time for Italian food! 

After the visit, Professor Yu attended the informal lunch at one of the best restaurants in Pisa, “La Grotta”, where he could taste local Pisan food and exchange his views on Chongqing economic development and innovation.

In the afternoon, he visited the Institute of Management with the support of Mister Bonaglia and Miss Fiore, to discuss academic cooperation projects and to meet with Professor Pietro Tonutti, Full Professor in Sant’Anna and Director of the Master in “Italian wines and international markets” at the School, and then with PhD Candidate Jacopo Cricchio, whose research is on artificial intelligence policies and application and on innovation policies in China.

VISIT TO THE LEANING TOWER 

At the end of the long day, Professor Yu had the chance to visit the Leaning tower, where he took a souvenir picture.
