GGII NEWS – Five student short films from CQU Meishi Film Academy appeared at the 13th Pisa Chinese Film Festival
On the evening of June 25, 2024, the Pisa China Film Festival Chongqing University Special was held at the Parco delle Concette in Pisa, Italy. Five short films created by students from the Meishi Film School of Chongqing University were screened live and became a highlight of this film festival.
The screening of five works won enthusiastic feedback from the audience. The works include “A Play in This Life” which shows the national intangible cultural heritage of Youyang, Chongqing – Yang Opera, “Shaci Random Needle Embroidery” which shows the cultural characteristics of Shaci, and “Dawn” which shows the life of ordinary citizens in Chongqing. “Coming Soon”, “Wen Mi” which shows the bond of family ties, and “Phobia” which is suspenseful. These works have won awards in some film festivals and competitions at home and abroad. The creators include undergraduate and graduate students from Meishi Film School.
The unique creative perspective and excellent production level of the short film were highly praised by the organizing committee. After the short film was broadcast, it was also warmly welcomed and loved by the audience. After watching the movie, the audience said that the new content added to this year’s Pisa China Film Festival brought a different movie-watching experience to everyone.
The Pisa Chinese Film Festival was founded in 2012. This year is the 13th edition. It is organized by the Confucius Institute in Pisa in cooperation with a number of institutions, including the Pisa Municipal Government, the Film Producers Association, the Pisa Chamber of Commerce, the China-Italy Friendship Association and the Overseas Chinese Chamber of Commerce. The film festival aims to showcase China’s traditional culture, development history and humanistic features to Italian audiences. After years of cultivation, it has become an important window for cultural exchanges between Italy and China.
Driven by Professor Wu Xueyan, Director of the Confucius Institute in Pisa and Chongqing University School of Law, the film festival set up a Chongqing University special program for the first time this year. The organizing committee said that it looks forward to seeing more outstanding student works from Chongqing University next year.
