GGII BOOKS – “The white snake” by Jada Bai

An ancient legend.
A mystery hidden around Italy.

Susanna is fifteen and feels torn between two worlds: the Italian one, where she was born, and the Chinese one, which her parents don’t want her to forget. Between school, the family restaurant and the Chinese lessons imposed by her mother, everything seems like an obligation. Until she meets Jane, her new teacher: fascinating, enigmatic… and perhaps not even entirely human.
Jane tells stories of spirits and reincarnations with a disturbing conviction. But when Susanna discovers that her life is intertwined with a thousand-year-old legend, the boundary between myth and reality begins to blur. Is it just a story or is destiny putting her to the test? An adventure between mystery and magic, inspired by an ancient Chinese legend, for those who love to get lost between past and present. The book also comes out with an 8-episode podcast that tells as many Chinese myths and legends, through video games or films that have arrived in Italy.

Jada Bai
Author
Jada Bai is a Chinese-Italian who arrived in Milan at the age of four, where she attended school and graduated and started a family. By profession, she is someone who “does things and sees people,” like a good Milanese. In fact, she is never bored: she teaches Chinese in Turin and Milan and spreads the stories of Chinese people in Italy by writing articles, participating in festivals or giving lessons in schools and wherever she can. She has realized that one of the reasons why people argue is because they don’t understand each other. And they don’t understand each other because they don’t know each other.
